Combining filters: AND and OR

The dashboard and the response list accept several criteria at once. How they combine changes the result — and sometimes turns it into nothing.

Several values in the same field

Each response carries one value per field: one class, one course, one unit. That is why "class 2026.1 AND class 2026.2" returns no response — no response is in both classes at the same time.

To see both classes together, select both values in the same filter. Values selected in the same field are always alternatives: the response is included if it matches any of them.

AND or OR between different fields

Between criteria on different fields you choose:

• AND (default): the response must match every criterion — "Business course and evening shift".
• OR: matching one is enough — "Business course or evening shift".

What always applies

Some filters stay outside that choice and always apply, together with any criterion:

• the chosen period;
• the search by respondent;
• the status of the responses (submitted or drafts);
• your reach — with OR, you still see only the units and surveys you reach.

The active breakdown appears as text above the numbers, saying what was combined with AND and what was combined with OR.
